How to Set Up Your Mail Client to Send and Receive Mail via Zoner inMail

You can send and receive e-mail from your Zoner inMail mailbox via any program for sending and receiving e-mail, that is, any mail client. Several dozens of programs of this type exist in the world, and some of them are available for free. The best-known mail clients include Microsoft Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Eudora, and Pegasus Mail. All of these use the POP3 protocol to receive mail, and the SMTP protocol to receive it. The Zoner inMail mail server offers FREE use of the POP3 and SMTP protocols.

To set up these programs so that they can communicate with your mailbox, you need to know three pieces of information, all of which you receive during registration: your mail server name – this is inMail24.com; your mailbox name (e.g. for the address name@inMail24.com, this would be “name”); and your password. The name of the POP3 (incoming mail) server is pop3.inMail24.com, the name of the SMTP (outgoing mail) server is smtp.inMail24.com.

In order to keep people other than registered Zoner inMail users from using (i.e. abusing) the SMTP service to send e-mail, the mail server demands SMTP authorization, i.e. user identification before mail can be sent. Thus, you will need to set up your mail client to do so.

This page gives a brief description of how to set up the most widely used mail client – Microsoft Outlook Express. The procedure is similar in other programs.

How To Set Up Microsoft Outlook Express

A great little e-mail program – it can pull mail from several mailboxes at once. And it is available for free as a part of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Setting up Outlook Express to send and receive e-mail from the inMail24.com server is fairly simple, and demands no special technical knowledge.

Step 1:
Use the Accounts command in the Tools menu. This displays the dialog for configuring user accounts.

Step 2:
Click the Add button in this dialog, and then the Mail... item in the list that appears.

Step 3:
In the wizard that then displays, fill in the fields as follows: Display name – this is usually displayed alongside or in place of your address when someone receives your e-mail. After filling this out, click Next

Step 4:
In the E-mail address field, fill in the full address of your mailbox, e.g.: name@inMail24.com. After filling this out, click Next.

Step 5:
In the E-mail Server Names step, pick the POP3 choice in the “My incoming mail server is a…” dropdown list. Then enter pop3.inMail24.com as the incoming mail server, and smtp.inMail24.com as the outgoing mail server. After filling this out, click Next.

Step 6:
In the Internet Mail Logon step, enter your full account name in the Account name field and your password in the Password field. Check the Remember password checkbox. These are the account name and password that you chose when registering for the Zoner inMail service. After filling this out, click Next.

Step 7:
After this comes the Congratulations step, where you click the Finish button.

Setting up SMTP Authorization in Microsoft Outlook Express

In order to keep people other than registered Zoner inMail users from using (i.e. abusing) the SMTP service to send e-mail, the mail server demands SMTP authorization, i.e. user identification before mail can be sent. Use the following steps to configure it:

Step 1:
In the Internet Accounts dialog, click the Properties button.

Step 2:
In the upper part of the dialog, click the Servers tab, and in the lower part, check the My server requires authentication, and then click the Settings button.

Step 3:
You will now see the Outgoing Mail Server dialog, in which you should pick the Log on using option and fill in the relevant data in the fields that follow it, i.e. fill the full name of your mailbox into the Account name field and your password into the Password field. Here again, check the Remember password box. Now click the OK button in all dialogs until all are closed.

To send and receive e-mail, use the Send and Receive item in the Tools menu.
